You never want your loved ones to have oral health problems. However, millions of people have dental emergencies every year.
If any of these situations happen to someone you care about, then you should call 310-982-4895 right away to reach our team in Hawthorne, CA. Before you come to our office, here are some things you can do.
1. Broken Tooth
You could break a tooth doing any number of things. If you are bleeding, you want to rinse your mouth. If the bleeding continues, then apply gauze to soak up blood until the bleeding stops. Repeat if needed. You can cover the broken tooth with dental wax to prevent the tooth from accidentally cutting the soft tissues of your mouth.
You can apply a cold pack to reduce swelling, and you can take over-the-counter pain medication if needed. If you can find the pieces of the broken tooth, bring them with you.
2. Toothache
A toothache is often the result of a deep cavity or a tooth infection. A pain reliever can ease your pain until you are able to get to our office.
3. Knocked-Out Tooth
If a tooth has been knocked out of its socket, try to find it. If you can, pick up the tooth by the crown. You will want to rinse the tooth and rinse your mouth. As with the broken tooth, you want to rinse your mouth and soak up any bleeding. Again, repeat as needed until the bleeding stops.
Place the tooth back in its socket. Leave it there if it will stay. If it falls out, put the tooth in a container of milk and bring it with you.
