I grew up in the dental office. I saw my mom my whole life working on patients and came here most every day. And I really developed a passion for it and wanted to help people. And I wanted to kind of continue the tradition in the community.
Working with children is super rewarding. Seeing a previously scared child come in one day and just be super confident and ready to go and happy to be here, that is the most rewarding part. Six months ago you were a little timid and a little scared, and today you walk in and, and you’re like, “I got this” and everything’s great.
Being a pediatric dentist, I went to college at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, and then moved to Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee for dental school for four years. After dental school, I did my residency at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, and that was two and a half years. And there I focused a lot on growth and development and on hospital dentistry, as well, and operating room and general anesthesia, as well. After that, I moved back here and began my career.
Dr. Brent Tucker Carries On the Family Tradition
Dr. Tucker became a dentist in 2014 because he has a strong desire to serve his community. It didn’t hurt that he grew up in the office! Many of our patient families feel like his own.
Dr. Tucker is a big proponent of using his skills to give back to his community and abroad. He is an ambassador for the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Future dental van in Los Angeles. He also goes on regular dental mission trips. He has completed three such trips to Jamaica and plans to take more.
His young patients love working with him because of the amount of time he spends with them. He likes to explain things thoroughly, not only to the parent but to the child as well. He feels that this builds trust. His favorite part of his job is when a fearful child comes in and has a great visit. He loves how excited they are when their fear is overcome.
In his free time, you’re most likely to catch him taking his dogs to the park, golfing, bowling, and trying new restaurants as he is a self-proclaimed foodie.
Dr. Tucker’s credentials include:
- DDS – Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry, Nashville, TN
- Certificate of Completion of Pediatric Dental Residency – Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH
