I love people. I love health, and I like beauty. So, I think it’s an excellent service, health and beauty. And my friends tell me that I said when I was in junior high that I wanted to be a dentist. I don’t remember that, but they claim that, “Oh, you always said you were going to be a dentist. You said you were going to be an artist, and you’re going to be a dentist, and you’re going to be forming people’s smiles.”
This year would be 40 years. So, I guess I do like it because I still would like to continue and it doesn’t get old. I love people. I like to be of service and break the mold where people are not so scared of the dentist, come with a different look and attitude and they’re like, “Oh wow, this was good.”
Dentistry is not so horrible and yucky anymore. Our smile is the first thing that you see when you meet someone, your eyes, your smile, and knowing the importance of keeping good oral health, how it relates to overall health of your whole system, your whole body, it’s the gateway to our body system. So, I think it has been rewarding educating people, the importance of good oral hygiene.
I went to Oberlin College for my four year studies and I went on to Howard University School of Dentistry. I practiced in New York City for about almost 20 years, and then I came back home to Los Angeles.
